AVG offers an impressive feature set, solid protection against malware and solid performance across a variety tests. The free version has a couple of drawbacks, while the premium version adds additional features such as a device optimization tool and VPN.

The malware scanner of the software uses machine learning and heuristic analyses to identify and remove any potential threats, including trojans cryptojackers and rootkits. It also shields you from ransomware, phishing attacks, and dangerous websites by blocking downloads. AVG’s smart scanners are fast and comprehensive. They highlight a variety of “advanced issues” that you can fix immediately, including items that require password protection, a vulnerable firewall, or a camera which isn’t secured. It’s more aggressive than other antivirus programs that are top-quality in this respect. If you click on any of these issues, it will suggest you buy the paid version.

Its AV Test results are generally excellent. It detected and protected 100% of the malware during March and April 2022 testing. However its ability to detect 0-day attacks is not as good as the other top-rated products I’ve tested and it may slow the system.

The free version provides security for email and websites, identity theft monitoring of passwords that have been leaked, photo vaulting, and AVG Cleaner, which can speed up your device by clearing junk data. The premium version offers webcam security and protection against ransomware, as well as safer banking and firewall. It also comes with performance tuning feature that increases the speed of your computer and increases battery life, as well as a VPN to ensure your privacy online.
